ABC..TV#Michigan vs Florida Live College Football

Florida reigned over a weak SEC East in 2015. No. 14 Michigan proved that a new head coach was the key to rejuvenation at one of the nation's most storied programs. Both teams are in need of a quality win to cap off their seasons, and they'll get that chance when they meet in the 2016 Citrus Bowl.

The 10-3 Gators went 6-0 against their divisional foes this fall but were just 1-3 against other Power 5 opponents. On New Year's Day, they'll face Michigan -- a team that squarely fits in the latter category. The Wolverines were 9-3 this fall and, like Florida, only lost to quality opponents. The similarities don't stop there. Each team is breaking in a first-year head coach who can wash the bad taste of a regular season-ending loss with a key bowl win. Both teams will rely on hard-hitting defenses to carry them to victory.

Florida ranks fifth among FBS programs in the S&P+ index when it comes to total defense. Four Gators earned a spot on the Coaches' All-SEC roster after they helped hold opponents to only 16.5 points this season. The team's ferocious D starts with Jonathan Bullard (17.5 tackles for loss) in the trenches and extends all the way to Vernon Hargreaves III and Jalen Tabor (eight interceptions combined) in the backfield.

Michigan clocks in three spots higher than the Gators at No. 2. They rode that strength to three straight shutouts early in the season, though they haven't been as crisp in recent weeks as their schedule grew more difficult. Though they don't have the star power that Florida has, the Michigan defense makes up for it with depth. Ten different Wolverines had at least five tackles for loss this fall.
