LOS ANGELES, CA –In the face of Bank of America’s refusal to work with thousands of homeowners who have been the victims of predatory lending, and fraudulent servicing and foreclosures, Occupy Fights Foreclosures will be holding a protest by homeowners outside of Bank of America in Hollywood this Wednesday at 12:00 pm.
Banks and government officials are trying to tell the American people that the foreclosure crisis is over. Yet close to one million homes are in some stage of foreclosure nationwide, and 18,500 Los Angeles County families are going to be evicted from their homes in the next few months. Bank of America is the leader of fraudulent foreclosures. The recent OCC “independent review” was uncovering massive illegalities by Bank of America that resulted in people losing their homes. That review was shut down, which kept Bank of America executives out of prison and kept defrauded homeowners from receiving just compensation. Bank of America paid 40% of the $8.5 billion settlement.
Occupy Fights Foreclosures calls on Bank of America to work with people to keep them in their homes. They got billions in taxpayer money; they should use it to help homeowners, and stop their fraudulent foreclosures and evictions.
Occupy Fights Foreclosures is a community organization dedicated to stopping foreclosures, and demanding justice and accountability from those responsible for the crisis.
