On May 1st, Occupy Los Angeles (OLA), will be joining in numerous actions throughout the city of Los Angeles around the call for a General Strike. Plans by OLA call for a "4 Winds Caravans -- North, South, East, and West" to converge in downtown Los Angeles for an OLA gathering and then join up with the 4:00pm Immigrant Rights March on Olympic and Broadway.
Occupy Venice will be organizing the West Winds Caravan which will be an organized car, bike, and mobile sound system driving & bicycling up Wilshire Blvd starting at Ocean Ave/Wilshire in Santa Monica at 10am to MacArthur Park and then marching to downtown Los Angeles to join the actions there. Several major stops have been identified along the route.
Occupy Fights Foreclosure (OFF) will join the OLA Queer Affinity Group. OFF will stake out the corner of La Brea and Wilshire to articulate the visible Foreclosure Fraud component of this day of action. The Queer Affintity Group will stake out the corner of LaBrea and Wilshire to articulate a visible Queer Component of this action.
We will gather at LaBrea and Wilshire at 11:00am in front of the Bank of America with signs and leaflets and fully articulate our inclusion with the demands of the 99%. We will then join the West Wind Caravan as it reaches our location about 12:30pm and travel in our own decorated vehicles to the downtown convergence.
We stand in solidarity with all the articulated demands of the General Strike:
* IM/MIGRANT RIGHTS
* ECONOMIC, SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE
* LABOR RIGHTS
* CIVIL LIBERTIES
* HOUSING, EDUCATION, AND HEALTH CARE AS HUMAN RIGHTS
* WOMEN’S RIGHTS, LGBTQ RIGHTS AND GENEDER EQUITY

Occupy Fights Foreclosures will be joining our action in front of Bank of America to also highlight how foreclosures have impacted ALL communities, including our the LGBT Community! Housing is a human right and we stand in solidarity with our rallying point that "An Injustice to One is an Injustice to ALL" -- the Queer Affinity Group will be doing some additional leafleting around the concept of "Busting the Myth of the Affluent Gay!"

THIS EVENT is DIS-ABILITY AFFIRMATIVE:THIS EVENT is DIS-ABILITY AFFIRMATIVE:
There are ramps all around the corner where the Bank of America is. We will all be in front of the bank, where there are extra wide sidewalks and 3 accessible restroom facilities nearby.
Parking & Transportation:
The West Wind caravan will have a bus with a lift on it and appropriate seating and it will ONLY be traveling east, stopping near MacArthur Park on 6th and at or near the convergence area. There is no return route for this bus, please be advised that a return route will have to be provided by metro. The 720 rapid bus will get you back to Santa Monica, near where the caravan begins, last stop is at 4th & Colorado. It can be taken from the MacArthur Park stop, or on 5th street near the convergence area downtown or on 5th street from Pershing Square, where the General Assembly will start at 7:30.
Here is the transit map for the 720 route: http://www.metro.net/riding_metro/bus_overview/images/720.pdf
There are public buses running both N/S & W/E, which stop at Wilshire and La Brea (BofA) too: N/S: #'s 212, 312 & W/E #'s 20, 720 rapid, in case you would only like to join in on the BofA action. There is some discussion about the bus picking people up from the actions to take them with the caravan, for those who might not be able to otherwise ride along, but please keep in mind that even if that does happen, the bus could reach capacity and not be able to take on more people at some point, so we would like people to be mindful of this possibility when planning too.
There is a parking lot across the street from BofA with some designated "handicapped" spaces and the entry appears to be one block west of La Brea (off Wilshire), on Detroit Street.
Frankly, there are also a couple of designated/reserved parking places behind the BofA too, but we do not recommend using them because our experience has been that BofA typically has parking security that will hassle protestors trying to park in their lot (usually threaten to tow your car) and it's happened to our dis-abled friends before too.
There will be two accessible porta-potties at convergence (6th & Main Street) and a friendly facility nearby that has agreed to help out as a back up too. It's the downtown Independent Living Center, at: 849 South Broadway - and the restroom being made available is on the ground floor.
